রাজধানীর একটি স্কুলের জাতির পিতার জন্মদিন উদযাপন অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন বঙ্গবন্ধুর আদরের ছোট মেয়ে শেখ রেহানা। বঙ্গবন্ধুর সঙ্গে তাঁর অমূল্য কিছু স্মৃতি শিক্ষার্থীদের সামনে তুলে ধরেন ।

টুঙ্গিপাড়ার শ্যামল পরিবেশে শেখ মুজিবের জীবন কাটে দুরন্তপনা করে। মধুমতির ঘোলাজলে গ্রামের ছেলেদের সাথে সাঁতার কাটা, দল বেঁধে হা-ডু-ডু, ফুটবল, ভলিবল খেলায় তিনি ছিলেন দস্যি বালকদের নেতা। তখন কে জানত এই দস্যি বালকদের নেতাই একদিন বিশ্বনেতা, বাঙালি জাতির পিতা হবেন?

শৈশব থেকেই খোকা ছিল অত্যন্ত তীক্ষ্ণ ও দূরদর্শী দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির অধিকারী। গ্রামের মাটি ও মানুষ তাকে যেমনটা আকর্ষণ করতো, তেমনি তিনিও গ্রামের মাটি ও মানুষকে ভালোবেসেছিলেন পরম মমতায়। পক্ষান্তরে তাকেও সবাই আপন সন্তানের মতো বিশ্বাস করতো ও ভালোবসতো।

দশ বছর বয়সেই তিনি নিজের গায়ের জামা খুলে অন্যকে দান করে কিশোর শেখ মুজিব, এ যেন মানবতার অনন্য উদাহরণ । শিশুকাল থেকেই শেখ মুজিব ছিলেন পরোপকারী ও অন্যায়ের প্রতিবাদী। মানুষের দুঃখ-দুর্দশা দেখলেই তিঁনি যেমন সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দিতেন, তেমনি কোনো অন্যায় অবিচার দেখলেই প্রতিবাদ করতেন।

একবার তার গ্রামের চাষিদের ফসল নষ্ট হয়ে যায়। ফলে কৃষকদের অনেক বাড়িতেই দু’বেলা ভাত রান্না বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। সারা গ্রামেই প্রায়-দুর্ভিক্ষাবস্থা । কিশোর মুজিব এ রকম পরিস্থিতিতে কিছু করার জন্য তিনি ছটফট করছিলেন। পরে নিজের পিতাকে তিনি তাদের গোলা থেকে বিপন্ন কৃষকদের মধ্যে ধান বিতরণের জন্য অনুরোধ জানালেন। তাদের নিজেদের ধানের মজুদ কেমন, এই অনুরোধ তার বাবা রাখতে পারবেন কিনা, সেসব তিনি ভাবেননি। কৃষকদের বাঁচিয়ে রাখার চিন্তাটিই ছিল তখন তার কাছে মুখ্য।

The childhood of my father – Sheikh Rehana

Bangladesh has celebrated the 101st birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today on March 17, 2021.

Attending as the chief guest at a ceremony at a school in Dhaka paying a tribute to Bangabandhu, Sheikh Rehana, his beloved younger daughter, shared some invaluable memories with him.

When young Mujib wandered around the rural landscape of Tungipara, leading his peers in all the swashbuckling activities including swimming in the murky water of Modhumoti and sports such as ha-du-du and volleyball, who in the world could even imagine that this youth would end up being the father of the nation and one of the greatest leaders having ever walked upon this planet?

Since childhood, he was unbelievably sharp and had endowed with a vision. The soil and people of his village filled his heart with love and he loved them too with all his heart.

At the age of only 10, he took off his shirt to donate it to someone else, epitomizing humanity. As a child, he was helpful and roared out loud against injustice. He reached out to the people who needed help and raised his voice whenever he spotted injustice.

Once he observed that the crops of farmers were damaged and their houses were left with not an iota of food. The entire village was encountering a famine. Young Mujib was burning to do something. Then he requested his father to donate rice from their barn. Without even knowing how much his father could help, he came up with this request. The only thing he had in his mind was saving the lives of the farmers.
